Gavin Conway

Talk to me here   I love digital media, always have, always will. I make digital projects happen. This blog (a work in progress) is the story of my work, opinions and thinking. And the odd rant. Right now, lots of my work is on projects for a young audience. A change of pace for me, but actually really exciting. The toughest customers around.

Learn some French and Spanish just in time for summer

Working with P&O Ferries over the last few months,  I have created a language teaching game to help you with basic French and Spanish phrases.  Ooh la la! Ordering food in a cafe, taking a ferry, and picking up some fruit and veg at the market. You will now be able to do this with confidence! At least I sure will be able to after the last few months.

The quality of the voice over in the games really takes it to the next level.  I found the voice talent in a Soho restaurant, and they were great.

Try it out for yourself here.

Gracias and Merci!

Zanussi - La Vita è Bella, Life is Beautiful

This is one of my favorite projects sofar. Zanussi is bringing it back to their Italian heritage. Italians do it better, as they say. Its a site for children and their parents, that gives a taste of Italian culture. Food, art, design…La Vite è Bella, life is beautiful!

I have created a digital mural, that will be made up of artwork from children aged  7 - 11. They were asked to draw things that they thought made life beautiful. Since its only just launched, we don’t have any entries in yet. Keep checking back, as there are always some great pieces of work that get submitted, as well as a few comedy moments.

Check it out, La Vite è Bella, life really is beautiful!

Renault website goes live

After a super speedy 12 weeks from concept to launch, my first project of this size has gone live.

Its designed to encourage a love of reading of classic stores for children. The Wind in the Willows, White Fang, Little Women, they’re all in there.

I am proud of this site from a visual perspective, and considering what was achieved in such a short amount of time. I’ve learned so much on this job.  Interaction design is key to to keeping users on your site. Information overload and they are gone. One thing I have learned, less is always more. Espceially online.

School Dinners are back on the menu

This game came about after Jamie Oliver’s campaign to improve the quality of school meals in the UK. School kitchens across the country has been feeding children reformed meat, made out of ears, feet, and other body parts I wont mention.  And we wondered why behaviour was deteriorating.

It forms part of a campaign by the School Food Trust to help educate children and families about food and healthy eating in a fun and entertaining way.

Play the game and see if you can grab all the ingredients you need to make your healthy dish….yummy :) Remember, healthy body, healthy mind.
