I suspected it, and now its been confirmed. DIY is dying. Nobody is teaching children and young people DIY skills anymore. And the children want to learn! Its like a right of passage that is not being handed down.
B&Q spotted an opportunity here, and have taken matters into their own hands. By developing a programme of in-store demos for children, we will equip the nations children with some basic DIY skills. From how to hang up a picture, to wiring a plug. We need more of this hands on approach to learning.
This is where I come in.
I have produced a site that allows you to sign up for the programme, as well as download information to help you brush if your own DIY skills are a bit rusty. This site was used as part of a trial that was so successful, it is being rolled out nationally in June 2010.
